Exceeding Your Limits

Guys at the gym want to get muscular real quick and look good for the chicks, so what do they do? They go to the gym and do arms 7 days a week, and eat anything and everything they see. But is that really how you get buff? No, to get buff, you need to have a structured exercise and eating regimen that includes rest. Getting enough protein, carbs, and fats, and training different body parts days of the week and giving them at least 48 hours of rest in between sessions is crucial to getting swole. People who go to the gym 7 days a week and train the same body part neglect rest and get hurt; they’re exceeding their limits. Likewise, Hank Gathers overtrained and pushed himself too hard; he had the mentality that he was the strongest man in the world, that a heart condition would not deter him. After he collapsed on the court and was diagnosed with his heart condition, he continued playing recklessly, as if nothing ever happened. He stopped taking medication for his condition and ignored the fact that his life was in danger. In the end, all of this came back at him and he succumbed to the heart disease. He had exceeded his limits, and the result of it was death
